Submissions are open for the special issue “Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems (EBUS): Past, Present and Future” at Deep-Sea Research Part II

The call has opened to submit manuscripts to the special issue on “Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems (EBUS): Past, Present and Future” in Deep-Sea Research Part II – Topical Studies in Oceanography. This special issue, in which CHASE PI Catarina Guerreiro (MARE/ARNET-FCUL) has been invited as guest editor, is an outcome of the Open Science Conference on EBUS: Past, Present and Future & Second International Conference on the Humboldt Current System, which was held in Lima, Peru, on September 19-23, 2022.

 Authors are invited to submit manuscripts addressing the following topics:

  1. Ocean physics, biogeochemistry, plankton, living marine resources and protected species;

  2. Observations and modelling: from physics to fish and from the surface to the deep sea;

  3. Ecosystem responses to environmental variability and change;

  4. Socioeconomic impacts., ecological vulnerability and management responses to human perturbations, climate change and extreme events;

  5. Technological developments to improve observation and management of EBUS ecosystems.
