Open Science Conference on EBUS: Past, Present & Future, in Lima, Perú. Extended deadline for submissions: 3rd May!

It is officially open the call for submitting abstracts to the sessions programme within the forthcoming Open Science Conference on Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems (EBUS): Past, Present and Future & Second International Conference on the Humboldt Current System, which will be held in Lima, Peru, during September 19-23, 2022.

CHASE members Catarina V. Guerreiro (MARE-UL & IDL | University of Lisbon) and Jan-Berend Stuut (NIOZ | Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) will be hosting Session #7 on “Understanding the driving factors of marine productivity in EBUS”, as part of the Thematic Axis 1 on “Ocean physics and associated biogeochemical processes in relation to climate variability and climate change”.

This session is meant to explore the different factors influencing marine primary productivity in EBUS and how they can be distinguished and quantified, including (Trade-)wind-driven upwelling of nutrient-rich waters from the deep ocean and nutrient-rich desert dust. To that aim, contributions focussing on both modern examples of EBUS case studies as well as those in the geologic past as derived from the marine sediment archive are most welcome!

The deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended to the 3rd of May!
